WNBA Super Star Angel McCoughtry Inducted at Local Rotary Club

The Rotary Club of Prospect Goshen, KY and the Prospect Area Chamber of Commerce are hosting a joint breakfast meeting honoring Ms Angel McCoughtry on May 2, 2013 at Hunting Creek Country Club, 6807 Foxcroft Rd Prospect, KY 40059 (502) 228-1106 University of Louisville Lady Cards’ head coach, Jeff Walz, will be introducing McCoughtry that morning where she will be discussing: A Day in the Life of a Woman Professional Basketball Player.
McCoughtry completed her college career at the University of Louisville in 2009 and was then selected first overall by the Atlanta Dream in the 2009 WNBA draft and is considered its franchise player. She also plays for Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahçe Istanbul in the EuroLeague Women.
McCoughtry lead the Big East Conference in scoring, rebounding, and steals, while breaking school records for most steals in a season, most points in a season, and most points in a game. She was named Big East Player of the Year during her sophomore year in 2006-2007. In the summer of 2007, she represented the United States on the Pan American Games women’s basketball team. McCoughtry earned most valuable player honors at the Ekaterinburg International Invitational Tournament in Russia as she helped the USA Basketball team win the competition. She was also chosen to represent the USA in the 2010 World Championships and the 2012 Olympics where she won the gold for USA. She has established the Angel McCoughtry’s Dream Foundation to teach and empower youth to recognize their dreams by possessing good character, self-confidence and valuable life skills through trainings based on the fundamentals of sportsmanship, competition and respect which will facilitate their physical, mental and spiritual maturity.
McCoughtry grew up in Baltimore, Maryland before coming to UofL for college and is listed at 6’1″ tall and wears jersey number 35. Her website may be accessed at http://www.angelmccoughtry.net
The public is welcome to attend this event but reservations are a must. payable on line with credit card at www.prospectareachamber.org $12 payment for this breakfast must be received by April 25 After that date cost is $17 on line by April 30. If paid at the door the day of the meeting, the cost is $25 (Cash only). The doors open for breakfast at 7:00 a.m and the meeting will be 7:30-8:30 a.m. There will be additional time allocated for autographs and questions following the close of the formal agenda at 8:30a.m.
