Meet Prospect/Goshen Rotary

This local Rotary club, serving the areas of Prospect in Jefferson County and Goshen in Oldham County, was chartered in February 1995 as a unit of Rotary International.  We are a group of business and professional men and women who strive to live by the Rotary Motto:
  Service Above Self.

We meet weekly for breakfast to learn more about each other, our community and the broader national and international scene. Members present short autobiographical / professional talks.   Most meetings feature a guest speaker covering topics ranging from personal development, local and national politics, recent business or technological developments, and a wide range of opportunities for service.  We might hear from a gardener-philosopher, a public official, an international poet, or the director of a charitable agency.

We are a small club and strive to get to know each other better through fun and fellowship as well as service.  Spouses and partners are included in our many social activities.

Our service to this community changes as particular needs arise and are met e.g. renovation of the Mahan Library.  We regularly support the Salvation Army through Holiday Bell Ringing, the DePaul School for Dyslexic Children through departy for dePaul, area educational programs through programs such as Junior Achievement with volunteer teachers.   We actively participate in the Fourth of July celebrations in Prospect and actively sponsor a speech contest where contestants from local high schools can win savings bonds and advance to higher levels of competition. We often host visitors to our community from other countries through Rotary’s Group Study Exchange (GSE) Program and help to provide financial support to Rotary International’s effort to eradicate polio and its other humanitarian programs.

OBJECT OF ROTARY
FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life;

FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

THE FOUR-WAY TEST
Of the things we think, say or do…
      1.
Is it the TRUTH?
2.       Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3.       Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4.       Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
