
To receive the 2004-05 Presidential Citation, clubs will undertake a well-rounded program of activities within each of the four Avenues of Service. Determine the
number of activities your club must undertake based on the size of your club’s membership according to the chart below:

Select activities under the Opportunities for Service listed in this brochure and achieve them between 1 July 2004 and 1 April 2005. Complete the Presidential
Citation Certification Form (900B-04EN), and send it to your district governor to certify your club’s accomplishments. Your governor must submit the certification form
to RI World Headquarters by 15 April 2005.

CELEBRATE ROTARY IN YOUR CLUB
V Create a membership recruitment plan to achieve the greater of a net increase of 2 members or 3 percent net membership growth by 1 April 2005. ?V Create a membership retention plan to slow attrition to less than 3 percent annually. ?V Encourage diversity of membership and promote a balanced membership. Induct new members from demographic groups not currently represented in your club. ?V Sponsor a new Rotary club. ?V Appoint a family of Rotary committee to assist with projects and activities in support of Rotarians and their families. ?V Invite members to bring their partners and/or children to a club meeting or event on at least five occasions. ?V Welcome and include non-Rotarian family members (e.g., spouses, adult children, parents, widows, or widowers) into the family of Rotary through service and fellowship activities. ?V During Family Month (December), recognize the importance of Rotarians’ families and their contributions to your club’s success. ?V Appoint a centennial committee and a club historian to coordinate and promote centennial activities and create or maintain a club history to be presented at one meeting. ?V Invite a least one Rotary Foundation alumnus or alumna to join your club. ?V Recognize a club member with the Four Avenues of Service Citation for Individual Rotarians. ?V Develop and initiate a new project in support of club service or the family of Rotary. |

Celebrate Rotary in your vocation ?V Ask each member of your club to share information on Rotary International and the club’s activities with their places of business and/or their professional associations. ?V Hold one or more club meetings at the workplaces of newer members. ?V Hold a forum on ethics and the application of The Four-Way Test in business and professional life or present all new club members with a copy of the Declaration of Rotarians in Businesses and Professions (200-EN). ?V Ask each member of your club to mentor a young person. ?V Sponsor a day for Rotarians to bring young people to their places of business to share career opportunities. ?V Sponsor or participate in a career development project for people with disabilities. ?V Sponsor or participate in a skills retraining project for those returning to the work force. ?V Organize a special vocational service activity during Vocational Service Month (October) or register a club member as a Rotary Volunteer. ?V Nominate a community member as a candidate for the Rotary Centennial Service Award for Professional Excellence to your governor. ?V Develop a project to improve literacy and numeracy in the workplace. ?V Develop a campaign to improve vocational or professional skills in the workplace. ?V Develop and initiate a new project in support of vocational service.

Celebrate Rotary in your community ?V Actively participate in Rotary’s centennial celebration activities. ?V Conduct a Centennial Community Project. ?V Contact local media to publicize Rotary’s role in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. ?V Conduct a community needs assessment and establish one new service project this year. ?V Ensure that a significant number of club members and their partners participate in new service projects. ?V Initiate an ongoing community water project (e.g. water resources, water conservation, safe drinking water). ?V Sponsor or participate in a project designed to promote urban peace or conflict resolution. ?V Sponsor or participate in a project to improve literacy and numeracy. ?V Sponsor or participate in a health awareness campaign or a project that addresses health concerns. ?V Sponsor or participate in a project that addresses the problems of child abuse, street children, and/or domestic violence. ?V Sponsor a new Interact club, Rotaract club, or Rotary Community Corps. ?V Conduct a Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) event.

Celebrate Rotary in our world ?V Participate in at least one PolioPlus or PolioPlus Partners project. ?V Achieve the Every Rotarian, Every Year goal of US$100 or more per capita in Annual Programs Fund contributions. ?V Support the Permanent Fund Initiative by securing at least two new bequest commitments. ?V Participate in the Centennial Twin Club program. ?V Sponsor a Centennial Group Study Exchange (GSE) team. ?V Participate in The Rotary Foundation’s Individual Grants program by sending a Centennial Rotary Volunteer from your club. ?V Sponsor or host a Youth Exchange student or conduct a Rotary Friendship Exchange. ?V Identify a qualified candidate to compete at the district level for at least one Rotary Foundation Educational Programs award (Ambassadorial Scholar, Rotary World Peace Scholar, Group Study Exchange [GSE] team member or leader, or Rotary Grants for University Teachers participant). ?V Support or register a project on the World Community Service Projects Exchange. ?V Seek a Foundation Matching Grant for a water resources, health, or literacy project. ?V Register both the club president and incoming club president for the 2005 RI Convention in Chicago. ?V Develop and initiate a new project in support of international service.
