CLEAN WATER
PROECT
The work
toward providing clean water in Paintsville KY may finally get off
the ground … weather permitting — the first weekend of March.
Stay tuned for updates and confirmation.  This
worthwhile clean water project is made possible by our Club, in
conjunction with EDGE Outreach ,  Sunrise East Rotary
and the Paintsville Rotary Club.

Help
Ministries — SHAMPOO ON DEMAND
Our PGR
Foundation has donated $1000 to the cause.  Now it’s your turn
to bring your donations of toiletries and personal hygiene items
weekly for collection at a Thursday meeting or drop off at Republic
Bank to Missy.  Also bring Missy any coupons for these items
she can use for future purchases on the Club’s behalf.
Smaller items are best and Kroger will be selling us these for a
little over cost.  Money is also being accepted.  See
Chairmen Missy Fultz or Ike Sherlock for additional details.

All the best,

Rotary Meeting January 26, 2012

We started our rotary meeting with our weekly business agenda.

We were happy to to have Presentation academy.

They Just celebrated 180 years of education. They had a grade school up to 1945 where they had both girls and boys. They currently are a prep school for girls. The have been on 4th street sense 1893. They are the oldest high school in Louisville. They think they are the 2nd oldest in Kentucky.

The current make up has students from over 50 different zip codes. They are a divers school. They welcome different religions. They currently have 80/20 mix. They have between 270 – 320 students. Due to the size it is very individualized. Many of the students feel that it is like coming home.

They do different programs including shadowing and intern programs. The get credit for internships they must present to the board of the school.

They are a 21st century school even if they over 150 years old. For the last graduation class the students received in scholarship over 4 million dollars. The graduation class was 57 students.

After the presentation about the school some questions were asked in regardings to funding, student body size in the future.

Deshia Webster is a student that our club helps with scholarships. She is a Jr this year. She admits that her goals have changed. She is focusing on what she can do not things that she doesn’t have control over. She has done 2 internships and a shadow. She now wants to work with in the medical community.
