Our Club projects are many and varied in nature. Membership come forward with great ideas on how we can help improve our community in the greater Louisville and Oldham County areas that helps promote the ROTARY ideal of SERVICE Above SELF.
Current and past projects include:
- In August each year, Club members assist the local Lions clubs in providing free eye exams at the Kentucky State Fair.
- Our volunteers are always ready to sign up for a day at the Boy Scouts’ Adventure Camp at Camp Crooked Creek near the Bernheim Forest. Taking place in September and May of each year this provides us with the opportunity to work alongside handicapped children in both indoor and outdoor activities.During October we have a number of our members who volunteer a few hours at various Jefferson County schools at the Middle School Connection that provides mentoring 6th through 8th grade students.
- Our Baby Needs Drive for the Westport TAPP school and St. Elizabeth’s Maternity Home provides essentials for newborns through toddlers, including diapers, clothing, bedding and furniture.
- At our Dress for Success campaign we collect either gently used men’s and women’s business clothing for those who are entering for the first time or re-entering the work force.
- In conjunction with the Christmas holiday our members join with the U.S. Marine Corp to donate toys that are distributed through their Toys for Tots campaign.
- Our club likewise supports the Red Cross’ Adopt a Family each year by buying clothing and toys for one local family during the holiday season.
- Every Saturday between Thanksgiving and Christmas you will find our members giving their time to collect money for the Salvation Army’s Bell Ringing project at the Prospect Kroger.
- Youth Alive, a mentoring project for local boys and girls, is one of our premier projects that we are involved with throughout the year. It includes not only monetary support but also hands-on involvement. Our Rotarians have taken these kids on camping and boating trips and help expose them to ways of life they might not otherwise have an opportunity to experience.
- Helping set up a library at Goodwill resulted in our collecting over 1,000 books at a Spring book drive.
- Members have also worked on Project Warm and Habitat for Humanity projects in both Oldham and Jefferson County venues.
